freshvac User Tips
- Make sure silicone around lid is dry and free of food, debris or crumbs.
- Do not fill to the top of the container—allowing the vacuum valve to work properly.
- To create the strongest vacuum, press down firmly on the center of the lid several times until you stop hearing air being forced out.
- Keep stored food out of direct sunlight. Heat may cause the vacuum to release.
- To ensure freshness, the white date dial on the top of freshvac containers reminds you how long you have stored an item.
- Use the appropriate container size for the amount of food being stored.
Food Related Suggestions:
- Some common foods, such as raw broccoli, cauliflower, fresh garlic, cloves and coffee emit gases that cause the valve to release the seal.
- When storing foods for an extended time, periodically check the vacuum indicator, as temperature and pressure changes can affect the vacuum seal.
- Condensation on a freshvac lid is normal, especially in the refrigerator. If large droplets occur, dry the lid and reseal. This will prevent moisture from affecting your food.
- While microwaving foods, make sure lever is in open position, allowing steam to escape. Close lever to keep foods warm until serving.

Troubleshooting
If the container won't maintain a seal:
- Make sure lever assembly is in closed position.
- Create a vacuum, then spin the date dial clockwise one full rotation.
- Vacuum Indicator: check vacuum indicator for holes, cracks or tears. Replace if necessary.
- Check silicone seal around outer edge of lid, making sure it is properly sealed and is snugly in place.

If the date dial will not move:
- Lift the lever to the open position: to a 90-degree angle.
- Put thumb on underside of lever inside of circle; gently push the date dial and vacuum indicator through.
- Once the date dial is out, notice its 2 small prongs; gently press them inward.
- Return the parts to their original position; turn the date dial clockwise.
- Repeat the process if necessary.
